Where's Thompson?
I will be out of school from January 8 until January 20. I am having surgery that I hoped would be able to wait until summer, but the doctor (as well as the chronic pain) tells me that it can't. I will go under the knife on the 8th and will be on my back ("recovering") for about two weeks. If you are the curious sort, you can find a medical description of my condition at this web site.
Due to the fact that my absence lasts until the end of the second term, grading for the term will be nearly completed before I leave. There are, however, two important scores that will not be completed until the very end of the term: Accelerated Reader points and the Short Fiction Unit. Students will have until January 14 to complete Accelerated Reader points. (The requirement is 30 points for full credit, and the AR points are worth 20% of the term grade.) The short story unit that students will complete with Ms. Gooch will also be scored and included on second term's grades. The final assignment of the short fiction unit is to write a story using the elements of fiction we cover during the unit. That assignment will go on next term's grade, but all other parts of the short fiction unit will be scored as second term work.
All late assignments from before the holiday break must be submitted to me before January 8th.
All final term grades will be entered into the computer Friday, January 16.
