State-Mandated End-of-Level Testing

It may seem strange, but our "end-of-level" tests are being given more than five weeks before the end of the school year. The reason for this is so that we can get the results from the tests before the students leave our classes. (I don't know what we are to do with those results, given that by the time we receive them the year will be effectively over, but that is the rationale given by the test administrators.) Clearly there are certain inconsistencies and injustices in giving an end-of-level test when so much of the year is yet to come, but please understand that teachers have nothing to do with the testing schedule. We give the tests when we are ordered to do so. Also recognize that there is still plenty of curriculum to be covered before the end of the year, and after the tests are out of the way, we will get on with that work. There is learning still to come. I am confident that most students will do well on the test, and it will be good to have it behind us. Thanks for your understanding.

Here's an online practice exam that will help students prepare for the real thing.
