Edgar Allan Poetry

(Update: March 3, 2010)

Objectives: 1) Learn a bit about Edgar Allan Poe and his writing. 2) Learn to use the Bubbl.us program to create an organizational web. 3) Create an organizational web that illustrates you understand how such a web is supposed to work.

Assignment: Using this organizational tool and the informational links at the bottom of this page, create an idea web (cluster) about Edgar Allan Poe. Include the following categories in your web: Biographical Information, Stories, Poems, and one other category of your choice. It will take a few minutes to figure out how the Bubbl.us web site works, but don't spend the entire period just messing around with it. This assignment has second part, and it is all due at the end of this period!

When your web is finished and it looks the way you want it to look, export the .jpg file to your own folder on the server, and name it something you will remember.

Open Word and write a heading (name, period, date) in the upper-right corner. Save it to your own space on the server: EdgarAllanPoetry.doc

Insert the picture of the web you created (Insert >> Picture >> From file) on the top half of a new document. If necessary, resize the graphic to fit. Save the document again just to be safe, but don't close the document.

Using the web sites below, read several poems by Edgar Allan Poe. Select one (1) you can use to answer these questions about on the bottom half of your Word document:

Make sure your web and all your answers fit on one page. Save it. Print it. Submit it.
