Rule 1 Rule 2 Rule 3 Rule 4 Rule 5

The Grammar Slammer contains every comma rule you'll ever need!

HyperGrammar is good too!

Here are the ones that 8th graders should know well:

1. Put a comma before a conjunction that joins two complete thoughts.
(We've already covered this one at length!)

2.  Put a comma after introductory material.

3.  Use commas to offset interrupters.

4.  Use commas to separate items in a series.

5.  Use commas to offset attributions in direct quotations.
