"Color Code" Poem
After taking the "color code" personality test, use this format to write the rough draft of a poem about yourself.

(Color)

I am ______(color)_________, the color of __________________________________________.

In life, I seek _______(motive)_________.

I need _______________________ and ___________________________.

I want _______________________ and ___________________________.

I am ______(positive traits)_______, ___________________________, and _________________________.

However, I can also be ________(negative traits)_________, ____________________________, and ________________________.

If I were a nation, I'd be ________________________________.

It's _______________________________ being ____________(color)__________________.

I am ______(color)_________, the color of ___________(different image than above)______________.

(Your name)

Your poem can be arranged any way you like, and you may fill in the blanks with as many words as you want. Focus on your imagery. Don't just write I am yellow, the color of a banana, when you could write something so much more powerful: I am yellow, the color of lemony pools of sunlight on hot August afternoons at the lake. Help your readers see (or hear, touch, taste, and smell) exactly what you have in mind. Be descriptive, thoughtful, and creative!

Final Draft Requirements:

The Color Poems will be on display, so make yours an example of your finest work.

Sample Images (You don't need to steal these! You can create better ones!):

I am red, the color of blood that drips like roses on white lace.
I am blue, the color of the veins that spidered across the back of Grandma's hand as she patted my cheek.
I am white, the color of snow-capped mountains far from home.
I am yellow, the color of the legal pads in which my dad always took notes.
I am green, the color of a lone lime in a fruitbowl full of apples and bananas.
I am orange, the color of a melting popsicle on a sweltering summer afternoon.

Sample poem:

Purple

I am purple, the color of the vein that pulsed in Dad's forehead when he was mad.

In life, I seek power, but also intimacy (but don't tell anyone--it's embarrassing).

I need to be respected, but also appreciated.

I want challenging adventure as long as it is in the safety of my own environment.

I am loyal, logical, and focused.

However, I can also be arrogant, insensitive, and judgemental.

If I were a nation, I'd be Germany.

It's a contradiction being purple, the color of sweet plums and the clothing of kings.
